GaragePal Privacy Policy
Your garage history is yours. This policy spells out exactly what we store, what leaves your device, and for how long. Last updated: 2026-06-21.
1. What We Collect
To provide account features, we process only:
- Account identifier: the identifier you provide when you sign in with Apple (Sign in with Apple) or register with email. If you use “Hide My Email,” we only receive Apple’s relay address.
- The vehicle data you enter: vehicle details (make / model / year / mileage), service and fuel logs, optional receipt photos, AI triage results, and maintenance reminders.
We do not collect your location, contacts, advertising identifiers, and we do no cross-app tracking.
2. Where Your Data Lives
Your vehicles, service and fuel logs, photos, triage results and reminders are stored in your own private account, protected by database row-level security (RLS) — only you can read your own data. We don’t sell your data and we run no third-party ad or tracking SDKs. On the App Store / Google Play privacy label, we declare “Data Not Collected” wherever that is true.
3. How AI Triage Handles Data
GaragePal’s photo / symptom triage is processed in real time by a third-party AI provider, OpenAI (routed via our self-hosted AI gateway). When you run a triage:
- What’s sent to the provider: your dashboard photo or symptom text, plus a brief summary of that car’s recent records (to ground the answer in your car).
- These inputs are used only to produce your result — they are not retained afterward, and are not used to train models.
- We do not send identifying information such as your name or email to the AI provider.
OpenAI’s privacy policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
Not a diagnosis: GaragePal gives guidance, not a diagnosis. For safety-critical systems — brakes, steering, airbags — consult a qualified mechanic.
4. “Passing Through” Is Not “Collecting”
The data needed for triage is passed through to the provider to serve your single request in real time, then discarded — it is not retained by us beyond the time needed to complete that request. Under Apple’s definition, that does not constitute “collection.” That’s why we can honestly declare “Data Not Collected” on the privacy label.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete your account and all related data at any time from in-app Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion cascades across your vehicles, service and fuel logs, photos, triage results and reminders; it is recoverable for 30 days, then permanently and irreversibly erased.
6. Third-Party Services We Use
- Supabase — authentication and private data storage (row-level security)
- OpenAI (via our self-hosted AI gateway) — used only for real-time AI triage processing (see Section 3)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (Pro ships with v1.1)
We use no third-party ad networks, tracking SDKs, or behavioral analytics platforms.
7. Children’s Privacy
GaragePal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you within the app and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
